Porcelain Chambers - Photo::Output

Runtime: 1:00:07

Luke Phillips, best known to Vivarium diehards for his work under the aliases Clay Monke and IDIOT, reunites with frequent collaborator Harry Morley (also of Polar Twin) for a transcendent return to their Porcelain Chambers project. Featuring creative sampling, mod synths and exploratory sound play from Ashley Andrew-Jones and an indispensable saxophone performance from Eve Morris (also contributing hulusi and percussion), "Photo::Output" is the harmonic product of these four voices in chorus.

We hear this synergy manifest on three lengthy, diverse arrangements. Performed live in a mingling of organic and electronic instrumentation, "Photo::Output" steadily climbs to a euphoric convergence our sourced sound, synthesized tones and shining saxophone. The quartet carefully mount to these walls of rapture, seeking the path to these peaks in more sparse, experimental segments of stuttering samples and synthesizers in loom. What Porcelain Chambers achieve here captures our platonic ideal of a jam session in the modern age, a dance of performance and sublime augmentation that defies easy categorization.

On “Photo::Output”, Porcelain Chambers are a quartet:

Luke Phillips - ipads, samples, synths, kaoss
Harry Morley - modulars, samples, synths, FX
Ashley Andrew-Jones - modulars, samples, synths, FX
Eve Morris - sax, hulusi, percussion
