Halogen Star - The Communities of Succour

Runtime: 46:21

This is Gareth Sloan's final full-length album as Halogen Star, a name he has recorded under for nearly a decade. The album's title is in reference to the online communities spanning Twitch and Discord who have encouraged Gareth over the years. "The Communities of Succour" is, appropriately so, a royalty-free release: open for use in any project, stream - you name it.

The sound of "Succour" is a blend of Sloan's influences throughout his time creating as Halogen Star, incorporating synthwave, ambient, IDM and techno, whilst leaning into the mentality of VGM in nod to the gaming streamers who inspired it (in particular, Aerilyneve, whose streams gave him the motivation to set this final album in motion).

From the monstrous synth churn of "Neon Storm" to the disembodied voices of "New World" to the emotional sendoff of "A Life Away", this album serves as a strong closing chapter for his formative moniker. Though Halogen Star has reached it's creative conclusion in an album capacity, Gareth still intends to release work under the name in the form of remixes, singles, video game music and collab entries.
