The Halogen Star name continues it's post-revival streak of albums with Daydream Police, a diverse assemblage of songs that began development as far back as 2018. Now rescued from demo purgatory and injected with all the energy and technical prowess evident in his recent material, these songs amount to a very interesting release for the Halogen Star canon, one that spurs investigation into the lineage of the alias itself.

For those familiar with Gareth Sloan's work as Halogen Star primarily through his, frankly, incredible streak of albums across the entire lifespan of Vivarium, it is important to note that he has been active as a producer since 2013. So, these tracks, some dating from before his residency here at the label, exhibit something of a shared creative DNA with his own past. It's fascinating to parse out how his myriad influences - acid techno, synthwave, IDM and ambient techno - all manifest here in some shape or form, the sound of the past rebounding upon itself and expanding into the future.
