Sismo en Bucarest - Rey de la Noche

Runtime: 1:01:45

"Eager for freedom, they emerge majestically under a dark starless sky and strings of golden lights, and the weekend revolution begins. Some chaos, destruction of the self and the rest to put together a memory with the remaining fragments. Radiant particles come out from the neurotransmitters under the heat of the nocturnal cold, products of the implosion of sensations that manifest the most pristine walls of their souls. The community is an enemy and an ally after sunset, where the moon and the chariots bear witness to the battle towards the conquest of their own reality. Paladins driven by an intimate fury in search of blood, flames, euphoria and narcosis, isolated and accompanied by their elite, take the path to become the king of the night, inflaming the vigil until the singing birds announce the regicide."

Peruvian producer Sismo en Bucarest confidently stands as one of the most compelling figures in sample-based music with their fifth album. A riveting reassembly of latin club, the fierce, imposing structures throughout "Rey de la Noche" amplifies his sound to an awesome high. It exacts an apocalypse of the latin club scene, generating spectacle as harrowing as it is exhilarating.

Ominous and emotionally moving in its blister, Rey de la Noche deconstructs syncopated drums and nocturnal synths to wield them anew in a style both boundary-pushing and addictively familiar. Lengthy arrangements abound, often made of multiple movements which transition in violent bursts of contorted sampling and monstrous bass - only to conform into a bombastic march of screaming synth leads and powerful drums. It is a reimagining of pop that grafts its slick bombast onto a foreboding new form.
