dslugboy's long-anticipated follow-up to Parapet fully delivers on the promise of their first record with Vivarium, gifting us another curious confection of chirping, warped sound collage with a counterpoint of infectious drum and bass. 'Emerald Clasped' seems more enamored with vocal manipulation than it's older sibling, evident on the stretching voices of 'Burn', faint field recording on opener 'Blood Knot' and even the bright, chopped singing of 'Efferent'. Its passages of ambient enrich its peaks of drum and bass, 'Ease' ascending to bliss following the energetic burst of 'Chalice'. 'Lenz' gives us a full-blown electronic banger, while, 'Rivulet' spellbinds with a wondrous fusion of colorful, texture-heavy collage and drum and bass in perfect harmony. 'Emerald Clasped' highlights every aspect of dslugboy's sound, granting moments of catharsis and excitement alike, making for a highly balanced and varied listen throughout.
