WIth the large body of work Andrew Mouge has released over the past year, it should almost be a foregone conclusion to expect the unexpected. And yet, here we are still getting surprises. Drone is no alien concept to Andrew as he had displayed his admiration for the genre on his debut album Dimensional Shift. This is a different type of drone however. Where Dimensional Shift was steeped in cinematic language, Wisconsin largely avoids those framing devices in exchange for a void of context.

The result are these massive exercises in melancholy, lacking that architecture we had previously seen. Instead, there is nothing left but the emotion that Andrew attaches to these songs purely through composition. Sometimes loud, sometimes warm and often very isolated, each of this albums 8 tracks are thoughtful patience testers as each of them slowly shift and reconfigure over time. I've never been to Wisconsin, but I have to imagine it's pretty beautiful if it sounds anything like this.

Wisconsin was written and produced by Andrew Mouge.
