Gareth E. Sloan was a young man when he got a prize in his cereal box that would forever change the course of his artistic endevours; a music production software designed for children. After nearly a decade of producing under a number of different aliases, styles and ideologies, the end of the 2010s has marked a major change for Gareth. The one constant in his toolbox was simplistic software and limited VSTs, but upon broadening his horizons, he's now seen that there is a future beyond what he has been creating under his moniker Halogen Star.

Never Ending is quite the diversion from the typical release here on Vivarium Recordings. Instead of overt sampling or hardcore electronica, Gareth focuses on lethargy in combination with solid techno structures. This creates an ambient atmosphere that invites you to be comfortable but refuses to allow you to slumber. Conceptualized as his farewell to the name that gave him his start as an artist, the album feels as though it is constantly battling to stay alive, each song running for quite long but never feeling their length. Traveling from nacent ideas to more contemporary ambient house music, you get to watch Gareth's growth as an artist in compressed time. We here at Vivarium felt astonished at how we were able to feel another's nostalgia having not experienced it and its woozy energy is unmatched.

This album makes you feel like you're inside an old computer that is on it's last legs. Everything is glitchy, aggressive, and decaying around you.
