Brobient. What the hell is it? It's a newly invented genre coined by a couple of friends that were roaming the Deep Cuts discord in June of this year, the creation of ambient from perhaps the least ambient genre out there; Brostep. Typically characterized as the American variant of dubstep, the ambient roots of it's parent genre were sweeped to the side in favor of growling synths, heavy drumming and pop inspired choruses. It's something that you can only really scoff at on first glance. It sounds like a joke. But for the people that are taking it seriously, wanting to make something impactful, there is a quality about it unlike anything else out there in the scope of broader ambient.

One of those artists is Mild Sorrow Integrated, one of the first to put out a full album in this style, compiled in his first release Meadow Platinum, Vol. 1. MSI had described that album as something of a pilot to test the sonic field of what he wanted to accomplish with this sound. His was a psychedelic and mechanical take that created giant caverns of sound, occassionally broken by heavy glitching. After just a month of refining, Vol. 2 enhances what made the first so memorable to those that had listened to it and expands its concepts to stellar proportions. These are drones that don't seek to lull the listener into a state of numbness, but instead actively engage them with a cinematic portrait of landscapes altered by time. Cities weathered by use, oceans refusing to reflect the moonlight, meadows encased in platinum.
