japanese words独創 - ソクラテスの死
Just this past month, we had the absolute pleasure of being introduced to Katzenklavier via her contributions to Kauzmeat's Inverse. Interestingly enough, both artists have presented their work as one continuous piece comprised of several movements. Upon listening to ソクラテスの死, it became very apparent where her sounds cropped up on Kauzmeat's EP. Working under her japanese words独創 alias, this album is reminiscent of the longing atmospheres found in The Caretaker's discography, although that would be doing this a disservice to solely describe it as such.
ソクラテスの死 is a distorted and chopped trip through a tunnel of memories best left forgotten, preserved against better judgement. The emotion on display here is palpable, with each section dripping in darkness, begging to be thought of. Katzenklavier requested that all of the proceeds go to the Homeless Black Trans Woman Fund, which feels only appropriate given the prominent use of soul samples. We'd heavily appreciate your contribution and hope that you listen to this album remembering to love everyone.
ソクラテスの死 was written and produced by Katzenklavier as japanese words独創.
Recorded and mastered in The Pillars of Creation during Spring 2020.
Artwork by Katzenklavier.
